In a time when LED is seen more and more, we cannot ignore the fact that candles will still be the favorite of many, when it comes to the detail for a beautiful table setting, the lights on the Christmas tree, or the calendar light that is lit throughout the month of December. Candles equal coziness and we love to light them in our homes. When, in given situations, we still choose candles over LED, we also know that good ventilation and correct use of the light is a necessity. Bloomingville offers a wide range of beautiful candles. Find below our guide on how to use Bloomingville's candles correctly.
How to use
- Choose the right light for your needs: Bloomingville offers a variety of candles, such as dinner candles, pillar candles, and scented candles. Consider the purpose of the candle and the room it will be placed in. For example, scented candles may be a good choice for the bathroom or bedroom, while elegant dinner candles will be perfect for a beautiful table setting or the candlestick on the bookshelf.
Trim the wick: Before lighting a candle, make sure the wick is trimmed to about 6mm. This will help the candle burn evenly and prevent excessive soot. A long wick produces more soot.
Adjust the edges: You can advantageously cut the edges of the pillar candle as it burns down. If the candle has high edges, the wick can burn down into a hole where it gets less oxygen. If the light lacks oxygen, it will burn more poorly and produce more soot.
Place the candle on a safe surface: Be sure to place the candle on a stable and heat-resistant surface away from flammable materials. Do not place the candle near drafts, open windows, or high traffic areas where it could be knocked over.
Light the candle: Use a long lighter or match to light the wick. If you light a scented candle, be sure to let the wax melt all the way across the surface of the candle before blowing it out. This will help prevent the candle from tunneling and ensure it burns evenly. Also read our guide to the use and maintenance of scented candles.
Keep your eyes on the lights: If they burn poorly or abnormally, turn them off.
Enjoy the candle: When the candle is lit, it's time to sit back and enjoy the cozy atmosphere it creates. Always keep an eye on the candle while it is burning and never leave it unattended.
Extinguish the candle: When you are done using the candle, be sure to turn it off properly. A candle should not be left to ooze after it has been extinguished. Use a candle extinguisher or gently blow out the flame. Do not use water to extinguish the candle as this may cause the wax to splatter. Open the window and let fresh air fill the room after the candle has been lit.
Store the candle correctly: To ensure the longevity of the candle, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
By following these simple steps, you can enjoy Bloomingville candles safely and create a cozy and inviting atmosphere in your home.
